Theresa  Crater

Step into worlds of mystery, magic, and suspense with the works of best-selling and multiple award-winning writer Theresa Crater. 

Born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, I grew up in the middle of the civil rights movement, an experience that left me believing anything is possible. In addition to holding a Ph.D. in English literature, I’ve delved deeply into spiritual traditions from around the world. I’ve visited many ancient temples and sacred sites with my archaeologist partner along with other spiritual teachers, and worked with ancient crystal skulls. I’ve taught Vedic meditation since 1974 and supervised students in a western mystery school. 

Pulling on all this, I craft stories where powerful characters and otherworldly forces collide. My passion for storytelling is fueled by a lifelong fascination with the unseen realms and the spiritual threads that weave through our everyday lives. Through rich world-building and immersive plots, I invite readers to explore the shadowy edges of reality where ancient wisdom meets modern intrigue. My work blends heart-pounding suspense with the empowerment of dynamic, multifaceted female protagonists. 

I write under three names: Theresa Crater for supernatural suspense, paranormal women’s fiction, and urban fantasy. I publish thrillers as T.L. Crater and lesbian and women’s fiction as Louise Ryder. Each story is a journey into the unknown, offering readers a chance to face their fears, embrace their power, and glimpse the magic hidden just beyond the veil.

I live in Boulder County with my very own Egyptologist, Stephen Mehler, and our feline overlord, Cleopatra.
