Imbolc ~ The Light Grows Stronger

Happy Imbolc everyone, the old Pagan holiday halfway between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. February 1st or 2nd. The days grow longer. Perhaps the snowdrops have appeared where you live. This time is sacred to the Lady, the child-woman, the virgin who is known as Brighid. Virgin, yet the mother of the Child of Light who is growing stronger. In the Southern Hemisphere, we celebrate the opposite holiday on the wheel of the year, the harvest of Lammas.

Christians adopted Imbolc as St. Brigid’s Day, also is known as Candlemas, recognizing this as a fire holiday. Brighid is also a triple goddess of the fires of the forge, health, and poetry. It is a day for initiation. A day of opening.

In Under the Stone Paw, the opening of the temple beneath the paws of the Sphinx takes place on this day. Here’s an excerpt:

The five moved as one up the six stairs into the small, precious chalice of a room, taking their places on the smaller star tetrahedron laid out in tile on the floor. Each stood tall, arms up, waiting for the flow of cosmic energy from the galactic core handed down through the star tetrahedron of planets in the alignment.

Beside each Keeper, several octaves higher in dimensional frequency, stood a Neter in the lighter blue star tetrahedron, adding its voice, holding up the sacred flame. Ptah stood with Michael, Sekhmet with Anne, Horus with Tahir, Osiris with Marchant, and Isis with Maria. Now they were ten. Cagliostro took the empty place in the formation, but Hathor waited by the entrance.

Something coiled at the bottom of the Nile, down deep near Elephantine, woke, and stretched its head. Power stirring from far south flowed downriver, gathering force as it came. From Khnum’s island and the island of Bigeh it flowed, from the root of physical form to the womb of the world, then to Kom Ombo, where the great crocodile dove in and swam northward. The river of power rolled on through the great temples at Karnak, Dendara, Abydos, and Edfu, the essence of each temple they’d visited joining the flow, braiding in its particular frequency, its special light. The vast flood reached Giza, the crown jewel in the spine of the Nile, and the Keepers were inundated. Just as a river surrenders to the sea, all their limitations simply washed away.

A door opened in their unified mind, an ancient door containing certain knowledge. Everyone knew at once.

May light fill you on this sacred day!

Three Awakenings & Sacred France #1

Remember Holy Blood, Holy Grail? The book that revealed the sacred bloodline of Jesus and Mary Magdalene? One of the authors was Sir Henry Lincoln who went on from this book to discover the secret geometry underlying the sacred sites in Cathar Country. His protégé, Allysha Lavino, unveiled the sacred grid in her novel The Heretic. Here’s what she has to say about my memoir Three Awakenings.

“Have you ever experienced a life-changing, soul-shaking, Divine encounter?

In the footsteps of The Heretic, my dear friend Theresa took me up on my invitation to ‘See for yourself…’

She traveled to the power sites in the Languedoc of Southwest France and experienced a profound awakening.

As she tapped into the land of the Cathars, she experienced the ancient Wisdom there.

AND SHE DISCOVERED A POWERFUL MESSAGE…

Now, she’s decided to share this life-changing adventure in a powerful and intimate memoir. (She even mentions me and Sir Henry in the book!)

As a visionary fiction author, Theresa Crater usually writes magical stories about ancient temples, lost civilizations, and secret societies.

Now she’s bearing her heart in a powerful and intimate memoir about deep awakenings and Divine enounters… including the powerful magic she experienced following in the footsteps of Lily in The Heretic!

Theresa has actually lived a pretty amazing life—diving deeply into ancient schools of meditation and traveling the world through mythic lands of legend.

And I’m so excited to learn about the personal stories that have made her such a powerhouse visionary!!

But the main reason I’m looking forward to getting my hands on this book is the way Theresa translates and transmits magic.”

I’m blushing for sure.

✩ Where My Witches At? ?

Happy Halloween – or Samhain if you’re into the old European traditions.

On the Celtic calendar, this is the first day of winter. The end of the harvest season. A day when the veils are thin, and we can see into the other worlds.

Which I know you like to do since in all my books we get to see beyond the ordinary everyday reality. Ghosts haunting crystals. Illuminati masters bent on evil. Egyptian statues that come to life and lead our heroes on journeys through other worlds. Crystal skulls pronouncing the fate of a character.

And this year we get a full moon to boot! Plus all the other regular craziness of a pandemic. Typhons, wildfires, hurricanes. Not to mention the U.S. election! There’s a polar vortex in the southern hemisphere, which happens when things heat up too fast – I think. Also, down under it should be Beltane and the beginning of summer according to the Celtic calendar if we followed nature.

NEWS! I’ve got a new bookstore. Hope you check it out here. Use NEWSLETTER20 at checkout for a 20% discount (good for two weeks).

I know a lot of you have read all my books and I am so grateful. I love hearing your thoughts and reactions. Another Power Places mystery soon! I’m finishing the grand finale on the Peru novel. I’ll let you know as soon as it’s available.

Me, Max & Christos

A New Arthurian Novel

John Matthews has given us a new addition to Arthurian literature, The Sword of Ice and Fire, the first novel in a promised series. It is a delightful read, told in a fairytale, mythic voice, suitable for children and adults alike.

https://www.amazon.com/Sword-Ice-Fire-Dragon-Rising/dp/1911122177/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=sword+of+ice+and+fire&qid=1555018552&s=gateway&sr=8-1

John Matthews is one of the world’s experts in all things Arthurian. He says he’s been studying the tradition half his life, but I think he’s being modest. In his Author’s Note, he says the impetus for this story was to restore a part of the tale lost to us—Arthur’s childhood. He also weaves in characters and creatures from other tales, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and The Mabinogion, to name two.

Matthews creates a magical, mystical atmosphere with the child Arthur living in an ethereal castle guarded by the Nine, known as priestesses of Avalon, but here more ancient, powerful, and mysterious. They have that detached curiosity the immortal ones show toward mere humans, yet realize they guard a treasure in Arthur, the son of the Dragon, the future king.

Arthur grows, protected by Hector and Elaine, fighting with his almost sibling Cai, later taught by the Green Knight and Merlin. Matthews brings in an assortment of magical creatures to both aid and oppose Arthur as he gradually learns of his ancestry, the prophecies about him, and his fate to bring back the Four Hallows of Britain—the sword, the cauldron, the spear, and the chessboard.

I kept remembering when our fifth-grade teacher read The Odyssey aloud to us. We had story time for half an hour each day. She’d pick someone to summarize what we’d read last time, then let us relax and listen as she wove the tale of the great warrior trying to get home. I imagined myself reading Matthews’ novel to children of that age, then picking other foundational myths for the great cultures of the world to read to them, steeping them in the spiritual lessons behind all these tales. This should be a vital part of each child’s education around the world, helping them dream and develop a mythic imagination.

I recommend this book highly. You will be entertained, educated, and uplifted.
